Website Translation

Owning a website has become the means par excellence of breaking into national, international or worldwide markets.

We can help you to write your multilingual website, whether this be a portfolio site or an online sales platform. Intranets, extranets and their content are also within our expertise.

Distinctive Features of Website Translation

One characteristic feature of web pages is that they are composed of content to be translated which is inserted within tags, parameters, and files names that should not be translated.Translation memory software allows us to translate the content of your website without removing the slightest amount of code.

Another characteristic of website translation is the particular way the content is written on the one hand, to meet visitors' expectations, and on the other, to meet the demands of search engines.

In fact, for a site to have a good natural referencing, each section's key words must be chosen with care in order to respond to the reality of commonly used language among internet users. The almost excessive repetition of certain words, the use of derivative forms of these words, and the use of synonyms or similar terms, are by no means accidental in web pages. The website translator endeavours to conserve those elements that are favourable for the referencing by using adequate words and synonyms, that is to say, by using commonly used target-language terms related to the subject covered on each page.

As with the field of IT Translation, certain words will not necessarily be translated if the English denomination is more commonly used. For example, if a section discusses smartphones, in some phrases the English term "smartphone" would be kept and in other instances, we would replace the word with the equivalent term in the target language. For example, in French it would sometimes be replaced with "téléphone intelligent".

The translator will also strive to conserve the tone and style used in the original text, which would have been geared towards the target market. We would not address a professional public as we would a young public.

Our customer base in website translation is growing exponentially and is made up clients from fields as varied as plastic treatment, fish breeding, wholesale trading of meat, beauty products, haute couture, or environmental biotechnology.
